Just read 'A long way down' by Nick Hornby, Its about 4 unconnected people who all decide to kill themselves on new years eve, it cheered me up no end... no seriously!
Also 'Our final century' by Martin Rees... that didn't cheer me up at all, if it's not global warming, a disease or a particle acceleration experiment gone wrong that gets you then the nano-bots will!Science isn't about why, it's about why not.
