    Empire of Dragons

His Series of books on the life of Alexander the Great was good as well

Then there is Christian Jacq's series on the life of Ramses the Great. Volume 1 of which is Son of the Light

Or if you want to know a little about Vikings rather than the Romans in China or Ancient Egypt try Lords of the North by Bernard Cornwall

    Clive Cussler's Dirk Pitt Books

Some top reads there. I didn't realise (till i read it) that Catch 22 actually coined the phrase catch22. Useless monday trivia.

Just finished Michael Palins diaries - The Python Years.

Bit dull and overall a disapointment compared to some of his travel books. Himalaya was excelent and made me want to go there.

Master & Commander - Patrick O'Brien (and the 20 sequel books - OK 19, he died half-way writing through the 21st, but the his writing notes have been published). Don't be put off by the movie of a few years ago, the books are much better.

                      Anything by Ian M Banks.

Currently reading Money For Nothing by Roger Bootle - I've only just started it, so I'm currently thinking of joining the "We're all doomed" faction on this board and I'm definitely selling my house as soon as I can (well, maybe - I mightl change my mind after reading the later chapters)
