Let's get this right, in this thread you have told us your teenaged son is:
    1. Getting paid to do your bookkeeping
    2. Getting paid to access data on your customer's system.
    3. Getting paid to perform a support role for your customer
    4. Done more volunteer hours this year than I have billable hours
...all while being in full time education.

Now, I realise that private schools claim to be charities, but that doesn't mean a pupil attending classes at that school is doing volunteer hours by going to school.

So, either you're lying about how much work your son actually does for your company, or you're lying about how much volunteer work he does, or you're convinced you know how many billable hours I have.

Tell me, how many billable hours do you think I have done this year?
…Maybe we ain’t that young anymore

Everyone understands that DrewG is a low-rent sockie from the same sort of galaxy brain that brought us Neo and gricer, right? The standard of sockies has gone seriously downhill since OldGreg flounced.

I know it goes on - t'other night I met another contractor who paid both teenage children for services rendered (of questionable effort-reward ratio) to their limited company, who then put the money into accounts which was used for family spending - but I think to claim it's anything but a clumsy tax fudge which if HMRC investigated you'd be hauled over hot coals for is naive.

It's your company, your money, you do you, but personally for the few quid in tax it's saving I don't think it justifies the risk of attracting unwanted attention - yes, the italicised if is a big one, but being audited even if you're squeaky clean is not a pleasant experience, so I've been told. Is it worth the risk of having to pull them out of private school midway through their education when your fiddle is uncovered?

FWIW I pay school fees from my dividends, and have searched exhaustively to no avail for clever but legitimate tax avoidance techniques to help make the bill a bit more palatable. The only legitimate options I found were:

1). A complicated inheritance trust arrangement involving grandparents thingy, designed for the super-rich and expensive to set up (not worth it for the humble contractor).

2). Paying school fees using tax free childcare vouchers, but only upto the age of 5, and only subject to the school's agreement.

High achieving kids might be an alien concept to you, not the same for everyone though.

1,2,3. (a very well-paid few hours per week).
            4. Most of the pre-med kids do this

"Your first post in this thread." - I never said I was throwing money at him instead of being a good Dad. You're assuming poor parenting because of money??

You're projecting your own inadequacies as a father onto my relationship with my son.. sad.

Ah, that's interesting. You're projecting that I'm an inadequate father. I've not mentioned my parenting, you're just making assumptions.

You've still not told me how many billable hours you think I've done this year.

Why can't you answer the question?

How many billable hours do you think WTFH has done this year?

I will after he pulls back his stupid comments about my bad parenting based on things he knows nothing about.

You're holding me over the coals for not really knowing how many billable hours he's done but not him for assuming all I do is throw money at my kids instead of being a good Dad. His accusation is baseless, I was just using hyperbole to point out my kids aren't the 'yoof of today'.

I based my comments on the words you wrote in your posts.

Ah, hyperbole. Exaggerating. Or, another word for it would be lying.
As for my words being baseless, I based my words on what you have written on this internet forum. I can only base my opinion of you on how you choose to present yourself.
If my opinion comes across as me thinking you are a lying idiot, then that must be because of how you present yourself on this forum.
