What a world we live in

Waitrose has changed a part of its Christmas advert that showed two farmers comparing sun tans after it was criticised by skin cancer patients.

The supermarket apologised last week after it received a backlash to its video on social media.

Critics said a section of the advert glorified sun tans and failed to highlight the dangers of sunlight.

I do wish some companies would not immediately kow-tow to any public complaint and have the guts to say "don't be so bloody stupid".

I hope the farmers do not have livestock on this advertisement.

They could have just added a "No farmers were harmed in the filming of this advert" as a footnote on the advert.

Political correctness gone mad. Sorry, that should be: political correctness gone cognitively challenged.

        Agree.

Local rag has a story today about a woman complaining about the cost of 'pick and mix' at a Christmas fair.
Company has said sorry and offered a full refund. WHY!

She bought 1.6kg of pick and mix between TWO kids and wondered why it was expensive!

I bet the farmers were both male and white? Am I correct?

Don't panic, at least one of them had a mixed race wife and numerous children of various shades as per Advertising Standards.

Be wonderful to see a lot more disability and gender vagueness introduced to advertising. Way too many white men on our televisions.

Reminds me of the advert you see on the C4 F1 coverage, where they literally shove their one female employee to the forefront with all the others pushed to the background.

Only in adverts imported from Germany and overdubbed.

(Joke -though my picture was used as part of some organisation's recruitment drive for nearly a decade until I lost my rag with them. )
