Ok so I won an iPhone 12 Pro Max in a raffle yesterday, so was reading up on the difference between my current iPhone 8 and discovered “MagSafe” but not sure on the point of it, so out to you tech nerds; what real world benefit have you discovered with this feature?

So you can magentically attach to other mag safe products or magentic stuff. If you think removing something stuck to the back of your phone is quicker than pulling the cable out then it's coooool. If not then it's another apple gimmick

stronger, more elegant mount? Magsafe car mounts at least look tidier than other mounting methods. They also appear to be resistant to speed bumps.
I also saw a review of the new Magsafe battery pack. So you can attach a secondary battery back the back of the phone, should you need it.Last edited by caffeine man; 6 August 2021, 23:13.Comment

My old MacBook has MagSafe from before they stopped using it the first time round. IMO it's wonderful. The cable just sort of plugs itself in and should some idiot trip over the wire it will pull out.
I would suggest it also means less wear and tear on both the socket and the cable as far less force is used. No way you can apply lateral force where it plugs in and damage anything, it will just snap off.
