As long as the rate is right and is not one of the consultancies/indian agencies/ dinky startups I don’t give a flying f***.

A few years ago I had the chance of a really good role with BAT, over market rates, excellent piece of work. I rejected it, as apparently was everyone else. There are some companies that don't look good on the CV and for me BAT is one of them.Originally posted by GigiBronz View PostAs long as the rate is right and is not one of the consultancies/indian agencies/ dinky startups I don’t give a flying f***.

I reject gambling and payday loan businesses at the start.
I can see BAT as a challenge I probably only take that if it was the only offer.Comment

Way back in the mid 90's when I was in my final year at Uni I failed the graduate scheme interview at BAT for not smoking in the interview!Originally posted by Whorty View Post

Overall it has to make sense in the net pay. How I look at it, in broad terms, it has to be at least twice my monthly expenses. If the figures do not work out then It will be a poor business decision.Originally posted by Whorty View Post

some roles might sound funny on the cv and we all know hiring managers can be a bit discriminarive but I would not mind a challenge for the right rate. It would be actually foulish not to consider.
I am keen atm to get the financial sector experience(PE) but overall through friends and acquaintances I know what it is about so not quite ideal. BUT a crypto trading role or opportunity to have exposure to that market I think would be more beneficial.Comment

There was one Tobacco company out in West London in the 80's -which may have been BAT- who had a box of loose cigarettes on the reception desk that one could help yourself toOriginally posted by courtg9000 View Post

Some tobacco firms push ciggies to young people in poorer countries* to get them hooked young and hence keep their customer volumes. They can't do this in western countries, so they take advantage of lax regulation in these other countries which I find deplorable.Originally posted by vetran View PostI reject gambling and payday loan businesses at the start.

Not been offered a role in a payday loan Co. but I'd avoid them too. I'd be 50/50 on the betting Co's (see what I did there?
)
* BAT may not be one of those companies, don't know, but I can't be part of an industry that does that. Talking to the agent at the time, I wasn't the only one with that view and even offering over market rates, and central London, they couldn't find anyone willing to take on the role.I am what I drink, and I'm a bitter man

Don't about that but inside the building, they had dispensers of packets of smokes that you could help yourself to. There were a few on every floor as I remember from being shown around on interview day.Originally posted by DonaldJTrump View Post
