oh sorry I meant England did. I take pride and responsibility for my countries actions.

I can see why you want to forget your countries past

In the trial Mr Boomsma referred to the most notorious atrocities committed by the Dutch in Indonesia over Christmas 1946 in the south Celebes. A battalion under Captain Raymond Westerling killed at least 4,000 Indonesians over a two-month period. Charges were never brought against Westerling and his men, or the military and political leaders who ordered the action.

The war crimes against Indonesian villagers were committed with the direct knowledge of The Hague, at about the same time that Germany's Nazi leaders were being tried in Nuremberg. Today The Hague is the site of a major UN investigation into war crimes committed during the war in the former Yugoslavia.

              Salmond might get in, just.

He didn't quite get off with the charges as well, one was not proven, intent to rape. I'm surprised people have openly backed him.

I'm sure you're proud of your country's role in slavery, genocides and oppression of other peoples

Yes we abolished slavery when every other country wanted to continue (including African ones who had been selling million of slaves to the Arabs for 700 years before we got there). We paid to stop it and sent ships to prevent the trade! Serious pride!

Genocides - we have been one of the first signatories to any human rights or war convention legislation. We regularly deploy with NATO & the UN to prevent them now. Shooting the natives when they revolted was common practice in the various countries Empire days.

Oppression was quite common as pointed out even the Dutch had an Empire to be embarrassed about. We did however tend not to kill the Natives out of hand because it was just bad for business. France, Germany and Belgium had different methods sadly.

Do the Dutch have an equivalent to the Commonwealth?
