A previously undisclosed US intelligence report contained information that three researchers from China’s Wuhan Institute of Virology had to be hospitalised due to illness in November 2019 with ‘symptoms consistent with both COVID-19 and common seasonal illness,’ according to a Wall Street Journal report

Have been saying this forever - the worlds worst pandamic and WHO can not even access everything. It took them a year to visit Wuhan.
This is shameful to all the people impacted by Covid - that they can not identify the source or have immediate and transparent access.

China did it, so what? They might have even done it on purpose, to get ahead of the western leading economies, make more money, build better nukes, planes, tanks, missiles and ships and take over the world.

but again so what? The US, Europe and the rest of the world ain't gonna say or do tulip to upset China.

Indeed so what. Viruses are continuously escaping from labs. You can't stop countries doing research into viruses or bacteria. Alexander Fleming could have never developed penicillin if it was illegal to grow cultures.

Statistically the chances of catching a corona virus is much higher from live animals than from a lab where the virus is kept in hermetically sealed containers, so this is probably what happened.

Those arguing it was a synthetic virus base their argument on the fact that the virus became infectious quickly, but the UK Kent and Indian variant are proof that the virus doesn't need a lab technician to become more infectious.

However, there are live animals at the Wuhan lab. Rather than killing the animals after experimentation some staff were selling them off as pets to make money on the side.

Dodgy people doing dodgy things leads to problems shocker.

The Chinese will never admit it because of the compensation claims they'd face.

It is interesting how the theories jump around. Selling animals is a new one but is inconsistent with the theory that the virus was manipulated to infect humans. If it was manipulated to infect humans then it couldn't have escaped in animal.

'Doing something about China' will become a big part of world elections for a few years. Challengers will charge the rhetoric to look tough. Resulting policy will push them back. Into a demographic debt hole hopefully.

The selling of animals may not be the source is just one example of bad practices at Wuhan. One inspector said that the precautions taken in the labs were akin to a dentist's surgery and not what is expected of lab.

So? If you read the papers concerning the origin of the virus, you'll see it's never really been ruled out . The consensus was - and still is - that it most likely originated naturally.

All that has happened is that the intelligence services have upgraded their assessment, based on presumably new analysis or evidence, from "remote chance" to "feasible".

Even if this was a man made, weaponised virus, it doesn't change the fact that at some point a virus or bacteria will arise naturally that will greatly disrupt normal life.
