FactCheck: has Scotland ‘subsidised the rest of the UK’? – Channel 4 News
Back in 2013, it was possible to use these figures to back the idea that Scotland paid slightly more into the UK’s coffers than it took out. That’s if you add up the tax and spending in those years cumulatively, and if you make a number of assumptions about Scotland’s finances, all of which are subject to argument. But the overall balance was close, according to one detailed analysis: even making concessions to nationalist arguments about Scotland’s likely historic debt, higher UK public spending on Scotland almost completely cancelled out any surplus created by “Scottish” oil.
The fact that the Scottish government has not updated or revised these figures since 2013 makes it impossible for us to stand up Mr Blackford’s claim at the moment.Comment

This is just gibberish.
The assertions made in the white paper in 2013 come from the Scottish Government stats. These are published yearly and I believe go back 40 years. The SNP claim these are the "the authoritative publication on Scotland's public finances" yet C4 then quote and claim the information is "experimental".
Blackford is a total idiot. I mean he is beyond stupid to the extent the only reasonable assumption to make is he is there deliberately as an idiot. Probably to stop Joanna Cherry from getting a leg up and challenging Sturgeon.
Cherry is just moderately unlikeable which makes her one of the stand out personalities of the SNP. A QC which dwarfs Sturgeon's "I've got a law degree" and has actually come out as a lesbian.Comment
