Police weapon amnesty offers £2 per knuckle-duster

"It was already illegal to possess a knife or offensive weapon in public, but the new law makes it unlawful to possess certain rapid-firing rifles, specific types of knives and other offensive weapons in private.

While the overall scheme applies to England and Wales, compensation will also be offered in Scotland and Northern Ireland but only firearms will be covered by those schemes.

    The compensation available includes:

£2 for a knuckle-duster (AtW's comment: suppose two quid is better than slap in the face with one of those)
    £5 for a disguised knife
    £10 for a zombie knife
    £14 for a blowpipe
    £20 for a telescopic truncheon
    £5,105 for a lever release .308 rifle"

    Why such strange price?

    Anyway, .338 is way better...

Looking at at those price points, how much could MF get 10,000 blow pipes for?

The prices aren't great. During the Winter War, IIRC, the Finns were offering €50,000 and a plane ticket to USA for any Soviet pilot defecting and landing a serviceable fighter plane in a Finnish airfield. And that was 1940 prices. Prices rapidly went down from there for other equipment, but still better than this.

Soviet Govt had a better offer anyway - desert and your family is as good as dead.

Whoops. USD. Stupid Alt Gr key.

Soviet offer was fine if you don't much care for your family.

"Compensation for lawful owners ranges from £2 to £5,105 for each item - but the total value of a claim must be at least £30."

So one would have to have the whole lot then -

              £2 for a knuckle-duster
              £5 for a disguised knife
              £10 for a zombie knife
              £14 for a blowpipe
              ---

              31 quid.

Soviet pilots would not know about that offer anyway - it was enough to be noticed picking paper ad for these to get demoted into shtrafbat (infantry unit).
