He's up for a knighthood or peerage in the New Years Honours list, was meant to be the Queens Birthday List but was abandoned due to Barnard Castle debacle.

From Johnson tells Cummings to leave Downing St immediately | Financial Times (free registration required):
Originally posted by The FTMr Johnson held a 45-minute meeting with Mr Cummings and Mr Cain on Friday to discuss their “general behaviour” this week, according to individuals with knowledge of the conversation.
In tense exchanges, Mr Johnson accused his aides of briefing against him and his partner Carrie Symonds and criticised them for destabilising the government in the midst of tense Brexit negotiations.
Mr Johnson showed the aides text messages that had been forwarded to Ms Symonds, who opposed Mr Cain’s appointment as chief of staff, to show they had briefed against her. He told them to get out and never return.Comment

Has anyone "let go" from No10 ever walked out the front door in such a staged fashion as Cummings? I very much doubt he was sacked, if he was so tulipe, why was everyone bending backwards to defend him during Bernard-Castle-gate? That was only a few months ago.
Also, this probably changes very little, it's not like suddenly the government is now going to be absolutely wonderful.Comment
