My biggest gripe with these performance diesels is the very narrow power band.

They do bugger all until about 2000 RPM and it's all over by 4000 RPM.

Also, they sound terrible and you always get a slight vibration that becomes tiresome on long journeys.

Give me a silky 6 cylinder BMW pertrol engine anyday of the week. Smooth as silk and linear power from tickover to redline.

      (with 200BHP, it should...)

I do like the Tiptronic box too.
I am guessing you have an Audi then.
Is the tiptronic the one where the gears "stretch" or something so it is really smooth? Or is that the Multi-tronic or something?

Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

Ditto the 3 litre, V6 lexus engine in my RX. Cruising, theres virtually no engine noise even at motorway speeds.
Smash your foot to the floor, drop the gears (or let the autobox drop them) and the engine roar is highly satisfying

Well, it's worth every penny I paid for it.
(Discounting my BIK tax of course...)

In fact, if I was going to spend £20K on a new car I'd buy one.

To be fair 50-70 is the only performance figure worth looking at. 0-60 is meaningless, unless you are a boy racer or are on a track.
I remember the good old days of this site when people used to moan about serious contractor related issues like house prices and immigration. How times have changed!?
