I had elective surgery to replace both lenses due to strong myopia and astigmatism and worsening presbyopia. The clinic did detect the beginnings of a cataract in my right lens but was at least a decade if ever from needing surgery.
I went for single vision toric lenses. Chose not to go for the monovision option (One eye for distance and another for reading) as this caused me headaches when it was my only option for contact lenses (they didn't make monthly disposables strong enough for my left eye at the time). Later when stronger lenses came out I wore them for about 10 years.
I've now gone from needing glasses to cross the road safely or even recognise a friend standing more than 2 feet away to brilliant long distance vision and only needing 3 pairs of reading glasses (book, laptop, desktop) plus some bifocals for cycling to read my garmin.
Cost me about £7k for both eyes which I had done at the same time.
