bah missed all the fun as usual. Having had this conversation a lot recently, not least with my non-white friends, here's my tuppenceworth. I think there are 2 things that are true:

1) If you're white you probably cannot understand the racism that non-white people have faced and face, if not on a daily basis, then intermittently.

2) While there is racism the majority of English people in this country do try to be fair and tolerant. Sandydown, saying the English are "racist fullstop" is a racist and stupid statement in itself (and probably actionable under the laws). I just thank my lucky stars that my ethnic friends are far more intelligent than you and that we are genuine friends who see beyond race to the people underneath.

There are any number of white people who are subjected to racial hatred and abuse on a daily basis. Particularly those who live next to a predominantly non-white neighbourhood.

Fat people, red heads and the bespectacled will have some idea of the kind of pointless abuse that can be handed out, as can anyone who has been bullied.
They wont fully understand racism, but will have an idea.

I would like to challenge Sandy on her statement that the members of this board are stereotyping Muslims or Indians or any other minority.
Give us an example please.
Would she mind awfully not being racist to the English, as she has said so many times two wrongs dont make a right. She has no excuse.

There is a difference between inteligent discussion and racism. In fact the most abuse I have seen on this board has been towards the French and Germans.
