Nope, but what the UK should do is get rid of Crapita!Originally posted by BrilloPad View Post -
Not at all. We have plenty of diplomatic goodwill built up over the centuries that we’ve continued to nurture recently, we have strong trading alliances with our nearest neighbours, and we’re not perceived as potential warmongers supporting a culture that is anchored in mythologising the last world war.Originally posted by BrilloPad View Post

True, not sure we need the forces we used to when we had an empire. A major war involving the UK seems unlikely without a few years of warning that give us time to rebuild our forces.Originally posted by meridian View PostNot at all. On the other hand, we are in NATO so have to contribute proportionally if we expect support in a major future war. Do we even have the forces we need for relatively minor and more likely conflicts. What if the Falklands pops up again? Recall we had some significant shortfalls last time.
PS Bring back Dad's army. I'd like the chance to shoot a few people.bloggoth

I don't know if we should be worried. Do we need a large standing army? Honestly, are we saying the army is deployed and at capacity. My understanding was that there was a concentration on technology now rather than pure numbers. And cooperation with other nations, so specialisation.Originally posted by BrilloPad View Post
Also, I can't see a country that could or would attack us, so not sure a large army is needed.
Willing to be educated on this though.Comment
