BMW X5 - Diesel or Hybrid?

We had two diesels in the family, but the cost of the fuel, the VED and the increased congestion charge - which The Wife (tm) sometimes has to pay - just made them unjustifiable to us. Changed a Tiguan 4WD Diesel for an Audi Q3 quattro petrol (in the VW family of smaller SUVs they only put the petrol 4WD in Audi bodies last year), and swapped an A4 Allroad 3l Diesel for The Toy.

I was torn between a Range Rover Sport and X5 but I'm veering towards an X5 for the build quality and drive. I'm looking for something very comfortable as due to my new business venture I'm going to London every 1-2 weeks. My current 3 series M Sport is destroying my back. Well I have an M3 and do between 15,000 and 20,000 miles a year and no problems with my back. Mind you the seats are quite well designed for sports seats and have lots of adjustment capabilities....Quite easily manage a drive from Frankfurt to Nice in one day with no real problems.

Compared to my Mrs 4 year old Evoque, the seating is terrible.

12k a year? That's average commuting mileage.

Anyway, we've been through choice of car with you on 2 previous occasions and it came to naught so back to the original question.

Has this helped make your decision about the 2 different propulsion methods at all?

Actually given me food for thought..... I think a diesel X5 is what I'll be going for rather than a Hybrid.
