I guess skills shortages are real and I’ll have to get somebody offshore, oh well.
Well, you wouldn't want to give something back to Britain. Good luck, India is that way --->

Yeah, I should have used VB6, then I'd be able to use PEEK and POKE to write machine code
Being retired I don't do pro stuff anymore but its amazing what you can still do with VB6 student edition. Got a program to backup to my spare computer on network, is really fast, one to play any of my favourite tunes on Youtube, another to show my password list by clicking on a small hidden area on my desktop, plus loads more. I do know how to (or did anyway) use .net etc but VB6 is so much simpler and always works. Embed the latest MS browser? No problem.

What I really like about MS is their backward compatibility. Certainly not true of Google. Used to do Android programs. When I wanted to make a few small changes I would first have to spend hours just trying to make the existing code work properly.

And it compiles to machine code not pcode

You could have PEEKed and POKEd to your heart's content in Sinclair Spectrum basic, all in 16k of RAM.

In terms of the thread itself, have the goalposts stopped moving yet?
