Do point this out to JezzyOriginally posted by northernladyuk View PostI am objecting to your dehumanising language, not looking to 'disprove a statement', so why don't you engage with that, rather than going down some strawman tangent. The UK does not 'import them in quantity'. People choose to migrate to the UK, usually within legal frameworks established into law by the democratically elected British parliament. You may not like that - fair enough. But there really is no need to use language that reduces immigrants to some kind of commodity, although I do accept that dehumanising groups of people is a useful psychological tool for those with unpleasant views. I am sure you can think of many historical precedents.

The EconomistThe Labour leader said that after leaving the EU, there would still be European workers in Britain and vice versa. He added: "What there wouldn't be is the wholesale importation of underpaid workers from central Europe in order to destroy conditions, particularly in the construction industry."
https://www.economist.com/news/brita...prepare-future
The TimesIf Britain’s firms cannot import enough workers, the country may simply export their jobs.

Boaty McBoatface builders import workers to fill the skills gap
so I'm in goodish company using import , it just sounds you are desperate to smear me any way you can.
We do import / allow criminals into this country and fail to refuse entry to those previously convicted as the figures & stories reveal. If you don't wish to concede this truth then I'm sad for you.
They are still individuals but as I have said before people may not always have pure motives for coming to the UK and we should recognise & police that not stick our head up our arses and call anyone who suggests it a racist.Comment

My martial arts instructor has another private student who's a copper. Once found himself face to face with a burglar armed with a claw hammer who went for the copper.
Copper managed to block the swing with one arm then landed a right elbow on the burglar's face resulting in him having to have reconstructive surgery. Probably a good example of 'reasonable force' as being hit with a claw hammer could have been fatal.
'Reasonable force' can be hard to define for an individual situation - if you know martial arts/self-defense you can end up in hot water if you act disproportionately or punitively. At the same time when woken up by a burglar in your own home with family to protect I can imagine animal instincts taking over.
Didn't the guy in this instance sustain some injuries from the screwdriver? Might not have intended to kill the burglar but it could have escalated to that point. What if it ended up the homeowner getting killed by a screwdriver wielding burglar? Probably wouldn't make the news as it's probably the more common outcome. Very sad either way."Is someone you don't like allowed to say something you don't like? If that is the case then we have free speech."- Elon MuskComment

Not at all. Much is made of the Tony Martin case - but there he shot the man outside the house and in the back, i.e. when he was running away and by any definition no longer posed an immediate threat. Neither condition applies here.Originally posted by northernladyuk View PostThis a really weird conversation. Our resident right-wingers seem keen to imagine that the law prevents them from defending their property (presumably because the state is on the side of criminals and not law abiding citizens?), but as Nick Fitz shows, that is simply not the case. Sometimes, you need to take Yes for an answer, folks.
Years of tabloid nonsense really have taken their toll on the country.
Perhaps you need to learn to treat each case on its own merits and not generalise...Blog? What blog...?

Congratulation, you've found other examples of similar dehumainsing language. Do you want a prize?Originally posted by vetran View PostDo point this out to Jezzy

We are all mongrels. I'm proud of it.
Again this is about numbers not the quantity of melanin in an individuals skin.
Did any Political party put this on its manifesto?
1. We will allow into the country a sixfold increase of net migration compared to 1997 (332,000 versus 48,000)
https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulat...ional-migrants
2. We won't build anywhere near enough houses to house these new people i.e. a city the size of Newcastle each year. We won't supply enough services either. This will mean housing & services will cost more driving the country towards bankruptcy.
Reality Check: Has a city the size of Newcastle come to the UK? - BBC News
3. We won't do a background check before allowing immigration so there will be serious criminals among them.
Links above.
4. We won't check them for communicable diseases so the existing population are at risk from near eradicated diseases.
5. Anyone who disagrees we will smear as racist.
I assume all of you would vote for the party who did?Comment

These are significant sources who did not consider it dehumanising, maybe you should reconsider your OPINION?Originally posted by northernladyuk View PostCongratulation, you've found other examples of similar dehumainsing language. Do you want a prize?Comment
