Cracking win. Shows that despite having an Aussie coach who, it seemed, had helped the English to reach down and find their balls, they are still bottlers. Thought they could just turn methinks....

One win in ten years doesn't make a great side, however it was a fully deserved victory and a good game to watch.

Shows Scotland can raise their game alot.

Shows England have a lot more work to do if they want to get anywhere near a WC final.

Hmm, population 5.4 Million in Scotland, 53 Million in England.
2 professional clubs in Scotland vs 12 in England.

RFU spends over £100m a year on investment in the game. SRU managed £2.8m last year.

Except that British kids are so sold on that kickball bollocks being the ultimate sport that rugby is a distant second (even in Wales these days...) whereas in NZ you get 7 year olds playing in competitive touch rugby leagues, and every town has both full and seven-a -side teams. So perhaps the number of players at junior level is rather more significant than total population.

The point, you evidently miss was that Rugby is THE sport of BOTH New Zealand and Wales.

It's not the leading sport in Wales and hasn't been for many years. Plus schools don't go in for competitive sports these days, too worried about someone hurting the little dears, so nasty rough rugby is well down the list. Most rugby players aren't picking the game up until their late teens

And, just for perspective I'm a Welshman who played first 15 rugby and have close links to New Zealand

Depends on where the school is, what sports clubs/associations are located near and whether those clubs bother to do out reach work in schools as part of their charitable aims.

Clubs/associations have to get the next generation of players from somewhere and they are well aware while some state school kids may like football and athletics as that's all they have been offered so far, if they interest them in rugby, rowing or tennis* and make it accessible they could get new players some of whom may actually be very good.

*Just the random sports clubs/associations I know who have done such work in state schools at primary and secondary levels. Tennis targets primary, rowing targets secondary while rugby clubs target both.
