But I appreciate it as an idealism. It never works in real life because the people at the top are always too selfish and greedy for it ever to work. But as a concept - I honestly do think its quite beautiful. Everyone simply doing their own thing - if I bake bread then I can exchange it for veg or for a roof over my head. Everyone has needs, and no monetary value is placed on anything, so all needs are equal kind of thing. Its kinda sweet - but never works.
Our society rarel works for everyone either though dont forget - just to a much lesser extent.

You have described the ideal of communism and then described it as beautiful and sweet yet you don't support the ideal of communism?

its the difference between theory and reality.

Communism in reality has never worked. Therefore I do not support it.

But you cannot just rule it out as being evil either, because as a concept, it does have merit. It IS quite a beautiful idea. It just falls apart when its put into practice!

Oh dear, dear, dear! If it cannot be put into practise then it is not a viable theory therefore we cannot even consider it let alone rule it out! It's like saying gravity is a really good idea in principal when we are all floating about in space trying to find our own shoes

well thats the point though - it probably COULD be put into practise....a utopian society.....not in todays world though, but sometime in the future.

Communism today is associated with evil - with violations of human rights, with vile dictators, with all manor of evil. But that doesn't mean that is what communism is.

            It does.

It is not "associated" with these things, it could not exist without them. Ergo, communism is evil.

If you knew anything about utopia, then you'd know that the key word in its description is "imaginary". Now run along little girl, leave the thinking to the grown ups.

How can it not exist without them?
What if people were happy to give up their "freedom"?

Poor old Sally Anne. She thinks communism is a good idea and Blair is a cracking bloke and good PM.

Poor, poor old Sally Anne. Tragic.
