The problem here, and what others allude to, is the thinly disguised bigotry behind this argument. If you have a problem with Islam then say it. There's plenty of reasons. It's possible to criticise Islam, and its followers, without dog-whistle bulltulip about slaughtering techniques, and without being bigoted.
Dog-whistle bigotry like this only strengthens the apologists for the bad practises of Islam as it muddies the waters of acceptable vs. unacceptable debate.

So commenting on the cruelty aspect of ritual slaughter, both halal and Kosher isn't acceptable in your view?

I don't like it, along with various other aspects of religion that I've already mentioned. They do not fit within the parameters of a civilised society

All the people I see in niqabs in various cities around the country reflect this. There were still plenty of Muslims around d in the 80s but I never used to see them covered like this. It seems to be the younger generations that have fallen for all this hardline tulipe & it's a real worry..

The point is I do not care whether the meat is halal or not - I still eat it.

However why should someone not have the choice if they want it?

We have been killing and preparing meat in a non halal fashion for thousands of years - why change it now?

And why, as it has been shown by this thread, if I question why the only meat I can now choose is halal is there an accusation of racism and intolerance?

So to spell it out - the way we used to slaughter cattle has been replaced with a less humane way due to a minorities religion preferences - or to go real base - because an imaginary friend told us to.

As it has been said before, if the animal is stunned then halal meat is no more cruel. Possibly less so as there are other halal rules about animal welfare.

As for the rest. Doesn't it feel better to have the moan you wanted?

I have also noticed a huge increase in veil-wearing. Although I wouldn't attempt to guess the reason why without facts and stuff. I also consider the possibility that I might be imagining it as I don't have any evidence one way or the other.
