OK, so you have no problem with the meat.

Since you added the phrase “if that’s what you want to eat” it’s implying that while you have no problem with the meat, you would refuse to eat it if you knew it was halal.
    Why is that?

      Depends where you are.

Where I grew up they were originally mostly Sri Lankan. Now they are all Pakistani like where I live now and the various cities including those in the North I've lived in since 16.

Do you mean the Gulf of Oman, the Persian Gulf or some other Gulf (I’m asking this because some people like to be very pedantic with their arguing, but very lax with their responses)

Perhaps you don’t consider the Gulf of Oman to be in the Middle East.

Oh I've had alcohol in Turkey. It was beer though.

The Turks I know here (and in fact most Muslims) have no problem with you drinking alcohol in their presence.

Washington even allowed to drink it in a couple of people's houses but I declined as I thought it was weird if the host(s) weren't drinking.

You know exactly what I mean.

I've only been to Oman briefly but I'm surprised you can drink in the street.

You certainly can't do that in Dubai. All outlets selling booze, bars, clubs etc, are part of a hotel & while you can drink outside, it's well out of public view. At least that's how it was when I lived there until 2001.

The likes of Saudi Arabia and Qatar (two of the UK’s key business allies) have very strong rules on alcohol, women, slavery, etc, but any comments about reducing our trade with them is met with ridicule.
Yet we have a poster who claims he has no problem with halal meat but goes ballistic that their children might be eating it, I have to wonder how that poor little snowflake is going to react, simply because they know they must be angry about halal meat, but have no idea why they have to be so angry about it and are not interested in hearing anything that might challenge their anger, bitterness and hatred.

It's about choice - we and our children should have the choice not to have to eat something which has been prepared in a certain way for religious reasons which we do not have an interest in.

Or as middle class white people are we no longer allowed a choice - because making a non halal choice is seen as intolerant to other people?
