The EU's top court has ruled that a law requiring refugees to seek asylum in the first country they reach applies even in exceptional circumstances.

The case, brought by Austria and Slovenia, could affect the future of several hundred people who arrived during the migrant crisis of 2015-16.

The ruling concerns two Afghan families and a Syrian who applied for asylum after leaving Croatia.

Actions speak louder than words, and for several years now, all we've had is words from the Home Secretary and the Prime Minister about how Europe is to blame, but absolutely no actions taken by said person to tackle the issues even though it was completely within her control and nothing to do with Europe.

So just to summarise, the economy is going down the pan, the pound is dropping, the NHS can't recruit nurses and there will still be open borders.

Nothing new here, we have always been able to do this. It's the main reason why immigrants are fingerprinted so they can be returned to the point of entry.

The fact our legal and asylum system is so terrible at processing them is not the e.u. fault.

Brexit will mean there is more workload on the Home Office dealing with immigration issues from the other European countries now they will all need a visa. So if you can get into the UK as you will pretty much likely be allowed to stay as sorting out visas for fruit pickers and nurses will be more important...

....interestingly control of non-EU migration is off the agenda because the government is too busy with Brexit, whilst spectacularly failing to stop EU-immigration, as they do the U-turn on the transitional deal.

Leave voters voted to leave the EU not stop immigration.
