Yes looks like Swissmedic is the Swiss equivalent of MHRA. Both too small to handle full drug regulatory affairs.
Switzerland has a large pharma industry that like the UK one exports in large volume into Europe.
Would be crazy to have 2 regulatory bodies and 2 sets of hoops to jump through.

The UK medical agency would just rubber stamp the licences from the EU one.

True, there is no logic or fairness to the EUs approach to Brexit beyond 'stuff the Brits!'

Where does 'fairness' come into this? Why should the EU be 'fair' to us? Brits are so arrogant to think we should get special treatment all the time and that others should pander to us. We're leaving - 27 other countries are not. Our one country is now negotiating and trying to get a good deal from 27 other countries who have their own vested interest. When will the thickos who voted Brexit understand this? Britain isn't the world power it once was (gained via wars and generally not great behavior!) and we have to just suck it up.

There is nothing to stop the uk following the eu legislations for this sort of thing.

And why would we not?

Yes we get no say in these rules but then one of the reasons we left is because we did not get a say anyway.

We trade with many other countries and have no say in their rules so.....

We actually did have a say.

In addition some English and Welsh laws were the foundation for EU directives. In other words we had the laws first but the EU sought to improve them. Then we had to incorporate those improvements back into our laws.

The point i was trying to make was that whether we get a say in the rules or not, to trade we need to abide by those rules anyway so it seems there is little difference.

If the uk comes up with new 'ideas' about anything and they are good ideas they will be adopted anyway and not just by the EU if they are tulip then they will not be.

We all abide by laws we had no say in on a daily basis.
