And as you know, you can't just pull a shiny new private sector out of your butt.

Think it may all be rather academic TBH, criteria for EU membership is a Gov budget deficit below 3%, Scotland's is currently running at about 9%. No idea how you fix that when you consider the size of the public sector. So assuming May agrees and a Yes vote, that could mean several painful years outside the EU trying to conform to the criteria, with a bloated Pub-sec and all that that entails......sounds like a recipe for chaos. So perhaps Scottish voters should be looking at what Independence 'outside the EU' really means first......mad times really.

Oh come on. The UK as a whole has a public sector that is not sustainable. The 2nd largest employer in the world after the People's Liberation Army is the British public sector.

Austerity has not yet begun IMO.

Independence is required to slash the public sector in Scotland. The number of pointless services that exists is astonishing. Translation services in public institutions should be a no no IMO. It's like me going to the local Rathaus (town hall) and demanding to be spoken to in English.

I'm fairly sure most Scottish voters understand the problems, and this is just Sturgeon's empire building and trying to take an independence referendum when UK.gov will be busy trying to get a deal with the EU.

There is no clear change in support for Scottish independence, we can't be having referendums on this subject every 5 years until they get the result they want. As a once in a generation question, the lifespan of a Scotsman is longer than 5 years.

Got a phone call at the beginning of the week, a client needed help with some mathematical models. Turns out there's no one left in the UK skilled enough so they called me in Munich.
