A lot of people lead what is euphemistically described as "chaotic lives". People with mental illness, or even disorders like ADHD often simply cannot organise themselves to keep appointments and put their head in the sand and ignore the brown envelopes.

The 'system' needs to be flexible enough to support people who cannot cope with the rigidity of job centre appointments and the like. It isn't.

Yep, here's one now.

ok I know it's harsh but 5 kids. Unless you are making some serious money I have no idea how people afford holidays, cars and 5 kids. Perhaps they could have stopped at 4 and his misses get a job.

Gareth, 32 was referred by a Health Visitor when his family of 5 were struggling. He says “I lost my job through my partner being in hospital weeks before the birth of my son. The foodbank has helped tremendously as we would not be able to feed the children without their help.

First of all, as has been pointed out, a family of 5 is not a family with five children. Usually it indicates a family with three children. Secondly, there's no mention of holidays and cars in connection to this family - this just came out of your mean-spirited head. Third, it's quite clear to anyone who has even a small skill in analytical thinking, that the partner was suffering health problems, just before the birth of their third child, such that it necessitated a stay in hospital. She couldn't work. She would normally have looked after their other two kids, couldn't do it, so he had to, and lost his job as a result.

Due to the inefficient and incompetent bureaucracy of the benefit administrators, it is all too easy for low income families to find themselves with insufficient food to feed themselves or their kids.

Nope and if you as a friend/neighbour help someone like that out, you can make it worse for them as then it is expected you continue to help them long term.

A good place to start perhaps might be a society where it is just required one member of the household has to go to work. These days everyone must just to keep the roof over their heads.

That's due to the lack of affordable housing to rent or to buy.

We didn't.

What happened was councils stopped building them, and house builders are mostly large companies who landbank to get the most profit out of the houses they do build.

Would seem our governments over the years were incapable of long term planning. Not something that's likely to change with the Tories in power.
