So its good news day for the "hardmen" in the world is it? There is only one stance which leaves us looking weak and vulnerable, and it ain't the one that the likes of me would tend to take. If you don't believe me just ask all those guys we were remembering over the weekend that are all currently spinning in their graves after reading your last post.Originally posted by sasguruthe hardman who deals with warring tribes in a "firm" way is a staple of history - look at Stalin and Tito. If you remove such a "leader" for want of a better word, it's always impossible to contain the fallout.
The invasion was a terrible mistake (as was seen by millions of people in this country when it started) which has left us looking weak and vulnerable.“The period of the disintegration of the European Union has begun. And the first vessel to have departed is Britain”Comment

I never have churchill, that's why my bloodline is set to continue and yours ain't. I'm sure Mother Nature knows what she is about. Your "self-control" is probably for the best anyway, this country has more than enough weedy pigeons as it is if this board is anything to go by.Originally posted by ChurchillNever make the mistake of comparing impotence with self control, peasant.“The period of the disintegration of the European Union has begun. Saddam may not have been a particulary plesent person, and he may have been hated by millions, but one thing you can't deny is that he knew how to keep Iraq in order.Originally posted by shaunbhoySo its good news day for the "hardmen" in the world is it? I daresay the general populace that shut up and got on with thier day to day lives were much safer and had a much better standard of life under Saddam than they do right now...Comment

Don't be deliberately obtuse. We leave in plenty of hardmen (and even support them) when it suits our interests. Removing Saddam was NOT in our interest.Originally posted by shaunbhoySo its good news day for the "hardmen" in the world is it? Much the same could be said for Hitler/Stalin/Pol Pot etc. So that justifies leaving them in power does it? After all, as you pointed out earlier, we had the UN green light to act.Originally posted by ArdescoSaddam may not have been a particulary plesent person, and he may have been hated by millions, but one thing you can't deny is that he knew how to keep Iraq in order.
See above comment. Nice and easy sentiments to have when you live thousands of miles away and can sit on your hands and look the other way, Just when did the people in this country lose their moral fibre anyway?I daresay the general populace that shut up and got on with thier day to day lives were much safer and had a much better standard of life under Saddam than they do right now...“The period of the disintegration of the European Union has begun.
