Would it not be worth looking at getting the PCB repaired by a specialist? Most of the time it'll be a capacitor or 2 that'll need replacing rather than any of the chips. A friend repairs my heater control PCB every few years, they stopped making parts for it years ago.Comment

Fair point. electrolytics don't like heat, they'll dry out and stop being capacitors.
Won't necessarily show signs of failure, unlike when ...err... someone... plugs them in the wrong way round :whistle:Comment
