Have you given any thought to the impact this silly obsession of yours has on the environment ? Fossil fuels are the reason for global warming and disrupted weather patterns all over the globe and you are shamelessly trying to make it worse.
Given that you clearly do not need off road capabilities then are you just compensating for something and in reality a good sized uber wagon would achieve your goals?
Indeed.
High driving position? tick
4WD? tick
Room for lots of kids and crap? tick

the off road capability and air suspension is useful for climbing across pavements into parking spaces which others cannot reach
yeah, I need a hatchback/estate for our winter and summer holidays to get all our stuff in
and prefer the higher driving position of the bigger higher cars
A friend just got the new X6M50, nice car, but no room in the back and no space in the boot, this is where the Q7 really wins, huge leg room in the back with rear reclining seats, and a huge boot for getting all your stuff in for summer and winter holidays and weekends away
Another friend has the GT5xDrive, that thing has leg room in the back, it's built on the 7's chassis and has the same wheelbase ! not much higher driving position than a salon though
I am sure, your M5 will be a lot of fun, how many HP does it have now ?
Milan.
You might have seen previous posts of mine where I was considering the small SUVs to replace my aging S-Max (a car that has done us proud and which I rate very highly in its class). In the end I just got very bored of looking at the hum-drum nature of the family wagons. And the thought of spending £30k to £40k on a 2nd hand car that I wouldn't really be happy with - that's what changed my mind in the end.
I'd rather spend £15k on a family wagon (Qashqai or X-Trail etc) and get myself the £35/40k car I'd be happy driving and that I could still fit the brats in when needed.
M5 only has 560bhp, but it's a start
Haven't bought it yet mind; have a meeting with a property developer in a couple of weeks and all my funds might need to be diverted there instead. You know the feeling I'm sure
yes, know the feeling and been there, these days as a practicing champagne socialist I am into sustainability and would only buy such a toy this year (or any year) if I believed such a purchase would be sustainable in the future, and as such have no problem should circumstances dictate to trade in to something more accessible

I'm fairly certain his emissions are far less offensive than yours...
His heart is in the right place - shame we can't say the same about his brain...
