How would the tax arrangements work? Would you pay full UK tax because the client is in the UK and the work is sourced in the UK and you are a British citizen?

If not, then would you be tempted to take the work to countries that have a zero or very low tax rate?

California is perfect for working in the balmy outdoors.

In the UK... well Cornwall is stunning and has decent(ish) internet these days but transport can be a real bitch.

Lots of Scotland is very beautiful if you don't mind more tempestuous weather.

OP only wanted English beaches... not sure what bonnie Scotland has done to upset them.

Ugh, Newquay is a dump. I mean much of Cornwall is very very crowded in the summer holidays but Newquay is a beautiful area spoiled - not unlike Magaluf

Think about how much work there is on this gig before you move somewhere that makes life hard if there is no more "wfh".

I would move to the med. Near a decent airport. That way, you can wfh with a great lifestyle and if that dries up- you can fly in/out weekly (perhaps until you relocate).

To be honest, when you are working it doesn't make a huge difference to your lifestyle where you are. It's the weekends that are different based on location- so decide what you want to be doing on weekends and pick a place that supports that.

You only have to put up with that for 8 weeks a year, at which point you'd rent something in Perranporth and pay off the yearly mortgage on your Newquay property via AirBnB.

Newquay is improving - 5-6 years ago, I'd have agreed with you but the efforts being put in to getting it back to a families and surfers destination are phenomenal, even though they are being hampered by extortionate shop rents.

Yes, whenever I visit my folks near Truro during the summer months, it's nigh on impossible taking them out for dinner.

People literally sit in their cars in the pub car parks half an hour before the pub opens.

That's if you even make it to the pub. Navigating the narrow, windy lanes when they are chocabloc with people with no reversing skills ain't for the faint hearted.
