Not all contracts are enforceable and not all are right. On that basis, along with their borderline mandatory status and bullying tactics I think they're fair game for a bit of a wind up.

But then again, I got into a physical fight with a security guard a couple of weeks ago because I refused to produce my receipt

I'm not anti the concept of the license, but I do hate the way in which they conduct themselves.

I had huge amounts of fun with the bellends while we were renovating (but not living in!) our new house. The letters were incredibly threatening and designed to look like court documents (Complete with "You should bring this letter to court with you" as the headline. I was particularly impressed that their enforcement agent apparently came and failed to notice that the living room didn't have a floor (Quite literally - we were replacing the joists and reconstructing the dwarf wall at the time).

I took huge amounts of joy in winding them the **** up due to their belief that, on the basis of having a house, then we MUST require a TV license. They are also now under no confusion as to whether they're allowed to step foot on my property.
            That was silly.

You should have made the floor appear whole but still be dodgy, you all should have done a weak protest about them not coming in and if they insisted let them in to injure themselves.

They would all have then be warned not to go into housing without proper flooring.

Maybe they don't trust you, I pay my TV licence by 12 equal monthly payments

and he would have lost his house & possibly liberty when they prosecuted him.

I moved in with GFP last year and was therefore entitled to a partial licence refund from my old property. The refund process was so long and complex, I gave up. I'm sure they do that by design and not by accident.

You missed the words "all" which is plural and "weak protest".

Clearly if the house is a building site or there are building tools around you are alerted to hazards. If you then ignore advice not to come in then it's your own fault if you are injured.

                    Also insurance companies aren't fools.
