the saddest part of this story is, the Germans who I know, would like to understand why Germany is being punished for the legacy of wars and regime changes which Germany neither lead nor participated in

      Milan.

The UK and U.S. Seem to generate their foreign policy on the fly following CNN. They want to be seen to do something, but don't want to commit to a costly ground war. So they drop bombs and fire cruise missiles. But that doesn't keep peace on the ground. The only way to establish and maintain peace on the ground is with boots on the ground. Million of boots under a UN flag. The trouble is Russia thrives on instability, and China, well who knows about China lol, so the UN Security Council is regularly vetoed on actions it tries to take.

As for Germany, it is bearing the brunt of the migrant crisis because it said it would take people in. How this has impacted the numbers who now leave on new journey to the EU, who knows. But it's not just Syrians fleeing war, but also a lot of North African economic migrants. Donald Tusk said something like 2/3rds of the migrants coming through via the med and Turkey are economic migrants.

This will not stop, as long as there is a perceived soft touch and welcome bed in the EU, the migrants will come.

Australia has the same problem, and they are tough (in some cases too tough). The EU must be far tougher and turn the boats around. There needs to be a wall of naval vessels turning boats around.

But what are they going back to? Tulip. Absolute tulip. They are go oh back to oppressive third world countries with low pay and menial jobs. And absolutely no state aid. So the rich countries need to massively improve the third world. If these countries are made better, it will reduce migration.

So the EU should drop its protectionist practices on trade with poorer countries. The west needs to stop buying cheap tat that is made by the poor on $2 a day. We need to get these uber rich companies like uber and apple to pay some tax and use the money for some good.

There is no justice or punishment, just an opportunity to win.

You seem to be thinking about this in a western way, these aren't westerners. I suspect they are more like Kamikaze pilots than Luftwaffe officers. There isn't any fairness involved they are fighting to fulfill their fantasy of a worldwide Caliphate.

Those people were killed to further an objective not to right a wrong. They don't hate us they don't even notice us.

Until we realise this we are screwed.

Only if they actually sought asylum. What's to stop a few (or many) simply walking across he border and disappearing? If their intention was to cause "trouble" they wouldn't want to be on any databases.

A lot of asylum seekers will return eventually, a few months in a German refugee centre eating sh*te food will see to that.

The State Office for Refugee Affairs (LAF) in Berlin has announced that more and more migrants are choosing to voluntarily repatriate to their countries of origin. The reason for the surge in re-migration is down to the Berlin government’s notoriously long wait times when it comes to processing asylum claims.
I remember there was a similar wave of refugees from Yugoslavia in the 1990's who also got fed up an left.

so are you for putting the refugee centres closer to conflict zones then properly funding and protecting them? Combine with refusing asylum claims within Europe's borders & returning to the refugee centres to prevent the risky crossing of Europe & seas?

That's why the EU has done a deal with Turkey so that they will take them and put them in refugee camps nearer to Syria.

Turkey has almost 3 million refugees.
