Culture has to be collectively enjoyed by a society, by definition. And what you have in the UK is drinking, football (mass commercialism destroying another working class culture) and watching TV. All the other things are minority interests, so they are not culture.

But carry on quoting minority pastimes to validate your own status.
      You are completely wrong.

Our creative industries - fashion, music, architecture, art, film, tv, actors, authors, gardening style, architecture, etc - are all part of our culture even if you don't think so. This is also what we sell to other countries.

What you think is culture is puerile shallow peasant entertainment with no collective significance. See my previous post for what a culture is.

You are taking a position to make yourself out to be "cultured" because you feel threatened by the ugly truth.

The reality is, you have no culture other than what the media feeds you. And booze.

Here in euro land British culture is seen as bitching. We all get along fine, then the British arrive and start bitching. You are laughed at by the Germans. They have culture, they love clubs. Every man is in a club. Singing. Chess. Whatever.

What do you Britons actually do in your spare time apart from drink heavily and bitch about each other?

I get it, I really do. Taking tea on the lawns outside Durham cathedral. But this is a minority endeavour.

Most of your countrymen are into x-factor, cocaine , cheap beer and bitching.

I have been away from the UK for a long time (I am
British), but every time I return I see this phenomena increasing.

The UK had a good hedonistic culture for a while , because you people like to get f****d up.

You have nothing left apart from a superb top end education system. Unused by 90% of the population.

The CBeebies production of A Midsummer Night's Dream was rather good.

You clearly don't know what most of our country men are into as what you write shows you know nothing about population demographics and what is popular on TV now.

Jeezus do you get your facts from the Red tops?

A small minority are into x factor, coke n getting fooked up. We call them chavs and despise them.

Yes the English person will enjoy a pint of warm ale and a chinwag with friends at the pub and this is a large part of our culture.

Like when I was in Cologne drinking kolsch I was taking part in something which is a large part of German culture.

The thing about Britain is that especially in the North for 6 monthly the year it is to cold and miserable for cafe culture unless you like drinking your mocha chocca chino with added horizontal freezing rain.

When I lived in the UK there wasn't that much immigration yet you're describing quite a few of the areas I saw which were predominantly white. I don't think immigration is fully to blame for that somehow but its easier to blame foreigners...

I think we beg to differ here, for a start the Bee Gees could be considered Australian and were born on the Isle of Man...
