Web inventor fears for the future

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/6108578.stm

Stable door, horse and bolted spring to mind.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

"Certain undemocratic things could emerge and misinformation start spreading over the web. "

    Can't imagine that.

Good old Tim Berners Lee. He crops up every now and again and says something pointless and out of touch with reality.
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

Blitheringly vague. A Great job beckons for him in the new Tory party.

Hopefully the rest of us will continue the job of spreading anarchy and dissent.

I remember about 6 years ago when everyone was on dial up my mate said he thought the web was just like teletext only slower and didnt see any point in using it!

A bit like Gates and "why would anyone ever need more than 640k"!

This sounds like the rambling cr@p we used to spout in the bar of the Students Union at the end of a long evening.
Still, if he can get research funding out of it good luck to him - it sure beats working.

If Tim Berners Lee and co. had got their way, that's all it would have been. There was a real opposition to any kind of commercialisation of the web. A big public library might have been useful, but never would have taken off like it did.

Do you remember those Uni discussions about whether the Russians were controlling the weather.

All he's after is some funding....I assume he needs an injection of cash as christmas is just round the corner.

Wonder if he shops on the web?
