My actually scenario was based on a real story. Two women have turned up with the same ID. One is suspected of stealing the others identity but officials couldn't prove it.

It is easier if for example you have some disease since childhood, your parents entered you for some medical experiment that tracked you over the years, one of your sibling's DNA is on the police database or whatever to prove your identity but otherwise you are screwed.

Loads of people steal the IDs of dead people as it is really easy to get someone else's birth certificate. They then use dodgy GPs etc to verify their documents.

I know someone who has two NI numbers, caused by some feck up made years ago. You try unravelling that with HMRC after many years have gone by.

Once you find a dodgy GP etc you obviously unravel their other recommendations which nets a whole lot more.

No, I was just saying, not proving any point, but they look at ur passport etc (dunno if they copy it, I'll ask the mrs, she attended the interview) and ask some questions to try and establish you really are you.

Not 100% nailing it but it's something and like everything else, I'm sure these wily foreigners will find loopholes and tricks...
