Exactly. Those short-sighted ancestors of ours should have insisted on building many more large cities and towns in the middle of fooking nowhere.
Their insistence on locating them near mineral deposits, rivers and sea ports has screwed the whole place up!!

You can't join Scandinavia, you migh tbe able to join the Nordic countires, but you would have to join the Schengen zone like Norway and Iceland did.

The border controls won't remain forever. They are un-Scandinavian.

They've got 100 Mbps fibre optic broadband in the northern corners for less than "superfast" copper in the UK so not quite inhospitable.

Even if we would join the Nordic Union and somehow be able to stay out of the Schengen area, we would still have to sign up for the Nordic area's own free movement agreement that has been there since long before the EEC.

                Scandinavia

When I went to Stockholm, the locals seemed to have their city House and then a cabin in the woods or by a lake. A very nice work life balance.

The cost of housing is a big issue in the UK and significant to quality of life. Being a debt slave is the UK way of life. Which is thoroughly depressing. The 52% don't drink Chai Lattes.

The thing which puts me off Scandinavia is the short days in the winter. The rest of it looks good.

                      Preferable to Scandinavia

One would have thought that with open borders in the EU everyone would have flocked to the Utopia of scandinavia. Even so Poland's population on its own is bigger than that of the entire accumulation of Scandinavian states.
