There is a difference between people genuinely fleeing oppressive regimes and people arriving en masse into another country with an expectation of food, accommodation and an ability to bring their laws and customs into that country - regardless of the impact that has on the receiving country.

Put simply we cannot apply the rules in todays world for something which was acceptable 70 years ago

Is Syria not an oppressive regime or are these people not genuinely fleeing the regime?

Many if not most present day refugees are economic migrants using warfare and oppression and suchlike as a pretext. Also, with unskilled jobs steadily vanishing in Western countries these migrants are in direct competition with indigenous people. That was much less so in past years when there were more jobs to go round.

It's easy to be magnanimous and welcoming when you have a secure skilled job, and no doubt live in a nice area. But liberals like you are increasingly out of touch, and the longer immigration is allowed and even encouraged, the bigger the backlash that will build up, and that will adversely affect everyone, including immigrants already here!

There is a strong correlation between warfare in home country and refugee status, so it is reasonable to assume that warfare is either the genuine reason for being a refugee, or a pretext. Why are you so sure that for many if not most it is a pretext?

To which country will we deport UK born people who don't respect human rights?

It's not a deportation, it's an "encouraged migration"

unfortunately the scale of migration is so great we are welcoming the equivalent of those migrations every year.

If they were genuinely running from an oppressive regime then why are they not content to stay in Greece or wherever they land?

Why do they then feel the need and indeed feel they have the right to go to Germany/France/UK etc and demand things?

And then why do they feel the need to try to introduce some of those 'things' that were making the regime oppressive in the first place - such as Sharia Law.

At times it seems that they tried to fight with the Syrian troops, realised they were loosing and then decided to take advantage of soft European targets and continue the war there?
