People are hardy going to call the police on work colleagues and other acquaintances they have known for years who decide to racially abuse them.

I was once friends with a Black person who lived between where Stephen Lawrence was knifed and where he died. Eltham is known for being racist - but he always seemed to get on well with everyone when we went out drinking.

There were. However, the vote for Brexit (and some aspects of the campaigns) have emboldened them - they feel legitimised. That there are many more like-minded people them. That now they're free to speak out with fear of being shouted down.

Or else - it's all just being made up by the left and right wing media, and everything is just as it always has been. Despite the biases in the media, I prefer to go along with the evidence rather than wishful thinking.
