I'll admit I'm not much good on politics or finances, but with a lot of leavers claiming a new dawn for Britain, I started to wonder if in reality whether much would significantly change (when brexit finally happens) on things like immigration, what we pay into the EU etc?

Nope, we'll still be run by unelected civil servants and special advisers, politicians will have one less group of people to blame and the world will keep turning (as long as the English don't start demanding that anyone non-English leave the UK, we should be OK)

So this will make three times in my adult lifetime a new Prime Minister has been appointed without consulting the electorate.

And whoever that new leader is can be voted out in 4 years. You try that with any of the EU Presidents / Commissioners and see how far you get.

Immigration won't change. The number of people that a points based system would keep out is negligible, that's assuming Boris doesn't sign us up to freedom of movement anyway. What we pay into the EU - who knows? If we're desperate to join the EEA we could even get a worse deal than we had yesterday.

Economically, what did the 2008 recession significantly change for the ordinary person? If you kept your job, didn't have a pension or ISAs, you'd have probably been wondering what all the fuss was about. So much the same really. Some people will lose out big, and some not notice anything.

Like I said I'm tulipe with this stuff. I take it pensions are affected due to uncertainty\movements in the finance markets?
