Reich. In German with the ei's and ie's you look at the second letter, i.e Reich, you say R'I'ch, i.e. R'eye'ch and with 'Wieder' for example you say 'V'E'der' like 'V'ee'der'.
I struggled with that for years until my then 8 yo daughter doing German at school told me this. Kept saying 'Die' like 'Dye'....
Anyone else who listened to the Macc Lads during their formative years still get a schoolboy snigger from substituting 'fooking barstards' for 'uber alles' when the German national anthem comes on?
