It seems these days everyone is desperate to be offended and outraged by next to nothing and almost every comment is deemed not politically correct or racist or sexist or anti left handed

I have seen a number of people moved on due to 'sexual harassment' I have even seen one guy sacked when he did nothing but was competition to the woman who made up the complaint for an upcoming promotion.

Whilst I am sure most people would not act like that there are a small minority who would and as such it is just easier to not bother even trying to be nice.

So I don't!

Exactly, i say hello and goodbye and avoid all invitations to lunches and drinks. Deliver get paid and if you want a chat go out with your pals. I did a 2.5 year stint in huge public corp and my word some of the lefty nonsense i heard there... When someone asked hey what did you do at the weekend? I made something up as no doubt a Cuban Vegan lesbian who believed in Satan every other Thursday would have been offended with what really happened

Most women appreciate a compliment.

Nothing wrong with paying a compliment, if they don't like it you just make a note not to do it again!

Although, would you pay a man a similar compliment? I know straight guys who would but it's not the norm.

Agreed, you are there to provide a service and get as much money as you can. No need to socialise too much, just be polite smile and do your work. The permies tend to take extra keen interest in whatever you do anyhow, after all you are such an expensive luxury, pretty much feels as they were paying for your services. I bet you a lot of them know exactly at what time you get in and leave, how long your lunch was etc.

They are the client and I doubt you would like if your handy man, cable guy, accountant or whoever else does any services for you to start throwing "you look good in that" to your missus/daughter when they come around to do the job.
