Well, they would, wouldn't they. It looks like it disappeared over the sea, so probably not shot down? If it was terrorism, then a bomb seems most likely.

EgyptAir distributed a statement saying a distress signal was received by the Egyptian military at 04:26 local time (03:26 BST), more than an hour-and-a-half after the flight disappeared from radars. The comments were widely reported, but Egypt's military has since denied a signal was received.

          "disappeared from RADAR"

The exact same language used when the bomb destroyed the Russian a/c flying out of Egypt on Oct 31st last year.

            Or France.

The French newspaper Le Figaro quotes a French border police source as saying that investigators will be focusing their attention on ground crew at Charles de Gaulles airport, to establish whether any airport employees posed a security risk. The source said that, in the past, a number of Salafists - ultraconservative Muslims - had been detected among those with access to the areas used for the loading and unloading of aircraft.

Doesn't bode well for Euro 2016 that kicks off in about 3 weeks.

The latest information from the Greek Defence Ministry, reporting a dramatic change of direction followed by a plunging descent, would tend to steer suspicions away from an explosion on board. Instead, if confirmed, it could imply some sort of disturbance inside the cockpit involving passengers or crew or both."
              This is getting worse.

Points to a sudden loss of pressure, of George the autopilot while the crew got some kip.

They were only 30mins from landing on a 4h20m flight. Doubtful any crew were sleeping.

A plunging decent could be due to a rapid decompression and need to get to safe altitude...

Or some nutcase opening the door mid flight. Is that even possible these days?
