Sir Michael Wilshaw said a crackdown had found more than 100 suspected illegal schools - half of which were faith-based, Ofsted said.
Roughly a third of them were Islamic and a sixth either Christian or Jewish.
      ...

Update: This report contains new information from Ofsted, which had previously said most of the schools involved were Islamic or Jewish.

I would think that if there is "An Elephant in the Room", it is not that schools are disproportionately Muslim, but that they are disproportionately emerging from immigrant communities. I could be wrong of course.

A lack of school places? Just kidding!

That's an interesting and concerning point if true. We all know what can happen to social and ethnic groups cut off from mainstream society.

          Interesting question.

          Who pays for these schools?

Does this mean if I was rich enough I could make my own school.

And call it the Jimmy Saville Academy.

It stinks because it means kids are off the register as far as social services and other welfare bodies are concerned which could easily lead to child exploitation and abuse....

As long as you inform OFSTED you can set up a school, and they can inspect and make sure you are not teaching the kids how to make suicide bombs.

But I thought these illegal schools were not OFSTED registered.

Or teaching infants that anyone who doesn't share your religion is evil, or that homosexuality is a crime, or segregating classes on a gender basis or operating without the most basic health, safety and child welfare checks.

It is already is standard practice in mainstream schools in Northern Ireland. About 90% of schools are either Catholic or Protestant. If you don't head to university there's a good chance that you can spend your entire life without any meaningful interaction with 'the other side'. What's to say that something similar isn't occurring in England?

According to the Oxford English Dictionary "irony" is "a figure of speech in which the intended meaning is the opposite of that expressed by the words used".[7] Thus, lyrics such as "It's like rain on your wedding day" and "A traffic jam when you're already late" are not ironic.

                      Exactly,

So register with OFSTED and then legally teach the bigotry.
