What do we do with the millions of EU workers already in the UK? Kick them out? insist on them having UK passports? create a new tier of visa? The sheer bureaucracy that this would require would be hugely expensive.Let us not forget EU open doors immigration benefits IT contractors more than anyone -
A phrase that fits perfectly with the current austerity Tory government. We don't have to look all the way to the EU to see such abuse of the electorate when we have it right here at home. A situation that'll only become worse if we leave.Originally posted by xoggoth View Posthis point was that there are always those at the top who seek to impose their ideals on the rest of us with complete disdain for real problems we suffer."Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience". We give them the temporary right to stay and work here, I would suggest a 2 year window, during which time they can apply for a work permit and ultimately UK residency. Those that meet the requirements of skills, education, English language, health and back ground checks would be eligable to live and work here. Those that don't would be required to leave.Originally posted by DodgyAgent View PostWhat do we do with the millions of EU workers already in the UK? Same as USA, Aus, NZ, Canada etc.

But come 2020 something can be done about the Tory government should the people of the UK wish. Moreover, which bit of the Tory government, because it's looking increasingly likely we're back to a big split. There's a good chance Cameron and Osborne won't last that long either way.Originally posted by scooterscot View PostA phrase that fits perfectly with the current austerity Tory government. Shortsightedness is impressive. What happens when remaining EU countries apply reciprocal polices to UK nationals living in the EU? Or UK nationals seeking to move and work in the EU after Brexit?Originally posted by DimPrawn View PostWe give them the temporary right to stay and work here, I would suggest a 2 year window, during which time they can apply for a work permit and ultimately UK residency. I could tell no difference between Tory and Labour those past 15 years. They're all career politicians servicing their own interests.Originally posted by The_Equalizer View PostBut come 2020 something can be done about the Tory government should the people of the UK wish. very little as we have established most here are low value workers, most uk abroad seem to be self sustaining citizens most countries want.Originally posted by scooterscot View PostShortsightedness is impressive. I wonder how the word 'value' is qualified here. One man's waste is another's riches.Originally posted by vetran View Postvery little as we have established most here are low value workers, most uk abroad seem to be self sustaining citizens most countries want."Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience".
