The Brits abroad are mostly retirees, most are not well off, but prefer the weather in Spain and Portugal and get free health care (in many instances better than the NHS) due to European rules.

If the choice was swapping them over, it wouldn't be a good exchange for the UK.

Why don't we simply assimilate the entire working population of Nigeria on that basis?
Let us not forget EU open doors immigration benefits IT contractors more than anyone

Already the Germans are reporting huge surpluses in their balance of payments yet Greece is being driven further into a downward spiral with the germans insisting they raise taxes and reduce public services to repay debt. There is no way out for the Greeks whilst the Germans enjoy their prosperity. The same rule will apply to the establishment vs the rest if do not dismantle this Orwellian nightmare that is the EU now.
The solution to the German problem is not to leave but to act as a counterbalance to Germany
Demographics and the future of the economy strangely might be on our side...
Angela didn't let in the Syrian migrants due to being a bleeding heart, you know.

World's largest economies: UK could overtake Germany and Japan to become world's fourth biggest economy | City A.M.

The above forecast is conditional on being in the EU. Eventually we could take over the EU.
But leaving is equivalent to if WInston had made a deal with Hitler and let him have a free hand in Europe.
Our standing in the world would decline and Germany's would rise.
If you want to prevent German domination, let's take it on. Within Europe.
        Hard Brexit now!

Don't be facetious, I'm merely pointing out the facts as they stand.

            We did

            Twice and won them both....

Can you extrapolate the theory that paying £350M per week to Germany is some kind of counterbalance to Germany?

Could you explain what exactly we are counterbalancing and why if we leave the EU we care about that counter balance?

So we're paying 350 million a week to Germany?
Comments like that are so asinine, I can't take anything else you say seriously.
You do realise that the relatively rich countries pay more in, but Germany shells out by far the most?

We are counterbalancing German economic power as the 2nd largest economy in Western Europe.
If we leave, as the US and Chinese have told us umpteen times we cease to be on the top table and a serious contender.
Being the 5th largest economy (at 2 trillion) is meaningless when your competition (US, CHina, and EU) is in the 15 trillion bracket. Being joint head of a big bloc (which should be our FP goal) leverages other countries to push us up, as Germany is doing.

In order to do this we need to take Europe seriously and send our best people over to schmooze and dominate, not 3rd rate fools like Frogface.

Can you demonstrate that the UK pays £350M per week to Germany?

Was just quoting the figure given by most that 'that is what it costs us to be in the EU each week'

Ok sorry must have over phrased my question?

Why do we care about being a counterbalance to Germany?

Are we really a contender or is the EU a contender?
