Guess it depends on your appetite for risk. With the events in Egypt in the last 12 months, I would definitely avoid it. In an unfortunate event, you have a lot of options to get out of Paris, Brussels (flights, trains, ferry, car) but in Egypt, not only dealing with language and cultural barrier, the only way out is flight. Could be stranded for days before being allowed back home.

I was in Sharm the week before the 2005 bombs and a month before the 2006 Dahab ones. (I must be on a list somewhere by now) and have been back a couple of times since. I've also been to London a load of times since 7/7 and flown to NYC 30+ times since 9/11.
Either get on with your life or stay indoors.
That said, Sharm itself has gradually morphed into a tacky neon-stripped sh1thole. The only reason we kept going back was for the diving which was spectacular. It's now waaay too commercialised. Sharm now is just awful.
Personally, now I'd go somewhere like Cuba for the same money and a much better experience.Comment
