    From the article.

Baby boomers, bought three-bedroom semi in Wigan in 1982 for £23,000.
Generation Y (60K per year, 20K deposit) complain that “A reasonable one-bedroom flat costs upwards of £250,000 in Brighton.

A three-bedroomed semi in Wigan can be bought for 170K. Well in the Gen.Y couple's range.

Without an indication of how much a 3 bed semi would have cost in Brighton in 1982, it's hardly a comparison that really reveals very much.

Owning your own home is hardly a human right. Many countries have far lower home-ownership than the UK. Quite how it's the baby boomers' fault that they could buy a house relatively easily (it was in fact easier 1995-2005 than when most baby boomers bough) is anyway indicative of a generation who are inherently more selfish than the current 20-30 year olds.
Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!

      Location Location Location ...

One mile away from where I live house prices are 50-70% less and that's far from the worst area of city still.

You can get reasonable houses in Brighton for 250 grand.

Three bedroomed houses for sale at that price, perfectly reasonable.

3 bedroom semi-detached house for sale in Wilmington Way, Patcham, Brighton, East Sussex, BN1

Probably not good enough though, would require a bit of hard graft to repair a few things, and wouldn't leave enough time for the playstation.

I'm having great difficulty working up indignation about this.
        I'm alright Jack

Renting sucks, landlords kicking you out, landlords putting up rent, landlords withholding deposits because you put a piece of blutac on the wall, landlords wanting to inspect the property every two months, landlords not wanting you to have pets, or smoke or have children.

Landlords are scum. Profit hungry scum.

Why don't you move and free up the housing stock?
