Like NLUK, these oiks might be gobby but have a natural deference to the officer class - stand your ground and they will respect you.
Don't forget to address them as Old chap, bean, or sport.
Educate them about the glory days and fine times with the fillies in Honkers.
Don't ask them about their racing pigeons performance, this season, they can get mighty touchy about that.
I.e. Make an effort to fit in.

You might need to get a work ethic, we like to do a proper days work up in Manchester. Also, you are probably going to be working with people that are brighter than you. Most of us try London and the south and work out its a tulip-hole that costs an arm and leg to have a studio apartment. It's often the slow on the uptake that are stuck down south.Originally posted by Troll View PostStart a new contract Tuesday in the wilds of Manchester
Normally wouldn't even consider but the rate was beyond the dreams of avarice
Some 30 + years since I lived up that-a-ways
So questions for the natives:
- Should I buy a cloth cap to fit in
- Do they still do pigeon racing - if so should I swot up so as to know the buzz words
- If I wear an overcoat- or any kind of jacket in winter- would I be immediately identified as an "outsider"
- Are Yates Wine Lodges still the place to hang out ?
- Which car should I travel in so as not to stand out -my 20 year old 4x4 or Merc E series coupe ?
TIA
But we are friendly bunch so ask for help, often and you will often find we will take the time to make sure you can get by, we are used to carrying a contractor who is a bit slow.
Oh both of the cars you mentioned are a bit tulip, but we understand you are trying to pay off a huge mortgage for a manky flat.Comment

If you move to Manchester you'll have to stop supporting Man Utd, as all their fans are a bunch of merchant bankers from London. You'll also have to understand that Rugby is played to league rules, not proper Union ones.…Maybe we ain’t that young anymoreComment
