He wrote much not the majority.Originally posted by sasguru View PostHow does "If someone I knew from the Muslim community was planning an act of violence I would report them to the police - 94% agree" show much sympathy for terrorists?
Do you understand basic English?
Surely if you had much sympathy for terrorists you wouldn't report them?
Yes I did work hard for the house, thanks. It's all paid for now.
If you check the Charlie Hebdo attacks 27% show sympathy. For me 27% it's not much, it's too much.
"If someone I knew from the Muslim community was planning an act of violence I would report them to the police - 94% agree - 6% show sympathy
I know Muslims who feel strongly sympathetic towards people fighting for IS and al-Qaeda - 8% agree
Muslim clerics who preach that violence against the West can be justified are out of touch with mainstream opinion - 49% agree - What about the 51%?"Comment

FAO NAT
So you have locked the other thread as you did not want any more discussions on the said topic.
Have you analysed what exactly is happening on this thread?
Or do you not feel drunk enough on power today?!Comment

27% IS a lot but what does "sympathy" mean though? That they endorse the attacks, or that they have sympathy for people ribbed by Hebdo but do not condone a violent response?
You can have sympathy for a pedophile but still revile their actions.
6% and 8% are pretty small - this includes people scared to report or just wanting to stay uninvolved.
51% is clearly very worrying but this seems to directly contradict the other survey figures and the question is a little complex. People seem to be saying: preaching violence is inline with mainstream opinion, not that they endorse it... confusingOriginally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishingComment

I have no sympathy for a pedophile.
Zero. None, nothing.
How can you have sympathy for them. In no circumstances, ever!Comment

Are you trying to change the meaning of sympathy in order to sustain your arguments?Originally posted by d000hg View Post27% IS a lot but what does "sympathy" mean though? That they endorse the attacks, or that they have sympathy for people ribbed by Hebdo but do not condone a violent response?

That’s a bad choice.

I didn't want any more discussion on this topic in that thread. in a new thread is fine. You never know, someone might cross the line of what's acceptable even in General, and then I can get another power fix.
When you can grasp plain English meaning, then perhaps you'll be qualified to have an opinion on changing the meaning of words.Originally posted by Bee View PostAre you trying to change the meaning of sympathy in order to sustain your arguments?

Really? You don't have sympathy for someone who has to spend their life fighting impulses they know are wrong, through no choice of their own? It must be a horrible thing to be cursed with.Originally posted by PurpleGorilla View PostI can't believe I just read that.

a)You have implied that 6% have sympathy simply because they didn't say they'd report itOriginally posted by Bee View PostAre you trying to change the meaning of sympathy in order to sustain your arguments?

b)Sympathy means what I think it means, it is quite a broad work with many shades of meaning.Originally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishingComment
