Agile strikes me as the new micro-managing.

there is a very ropey asp page that we report our hours on, if you want to book time on a project it has to have a number and that means it has to be approved by the PM office.

allegedly they have a PMO here somewhere in the states. Never heard from them once and apparently this project has a significant budget compared to others. Its mental they want to know what everyone is doing every 15 mins but the PMO havent once said hello to me

Anyone actually seen agile work well? Honest question and not trolling.

I've seen a few contracts with Agile and wonder if this something I need to pretend I know when I next look for a contract.

I think it works ok until people start evangelising about it and think doing the latest buzzword will make us agile. Breaking big dev works into iterative deployments and collaborative workings yes. The rest nahhh

On one gig this guy I'd never seen before came up to me in the kitchen and said "Hi VM. How's it going? We should talk about your project some time". I didn't want to say anything as as far as I knew he was a nutter who'd wandered in from the street.

I learned later he was the PM. Needless to say I never spoke to him again.
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

I am a PM and you made the right choice, he would have asked you a load of stupid questions and upset you. I am very good at both

Supplied services into a client a couple of years ago where most of the IT staff were "promoted" to PM, regardless of ability, and then the IT positions were filled by contractors with everything becoming a project if it took more than 1 hour.
…Maybe we ain’t that young anymore
